Halfway Amsterdam 21 and over
FAQ

Questions couples ask when they are arranging this from two countries

These arrive in the weeks before a trip and again on the afternoon of the first arrival. They are answered here the way they are answered in the thread, without any of it depending on which of you asked.

We live in two different countries. How far ahead should we arrange an evening?

As soon as the flights exist. Most bookings here are written a fortnight or more before anyone travels, which is the natural rhythm for two people whose whole visit had to be planned at a distance. A named therapist is easy to hold that far out and awkward to find on the afternoon itself. Anything arranged more than twenty-four hours ahead carries half the fee as a deposit, so early booking and the deposit are one decision rather than two.

Which of us should be the one writing?

Whichever of you is more organised, and then only that person. One thread for the whole visit. Two people writing about one evening produces either two bookings or one booking with two different hours in it, and untangling that generally costs the hour you were trying to protect. The partner who is not in the thread can read a screenshot in seconds, and nothing is lost by their not being in it.

Our flights land four hours apart. What hour should we book?

Time it off the later landing, never the earlier one. Take the scheduled arrival, add an hour for the queue and the bag, add forty minutes into a central address, then add an hour for the two of you to be in a room together first. An evening flight at eight gives a sensible start around eleven, which is an entirely ordinary hour here.

What does it cost for the two of us?

Two proportions carry the hourly tariff: the two of you sharing one therapist pay twice what one guest would, and a therapist each doubles that again, while the eight hour block is a sum of its own. Every woman's page prints the exact figures in full. No figure moves for the day of the week or the hour, and nothing is added for her journey across the centre.

One therapist or a therapist each, for two of us?

One therapist alternates between you and keeps the evening in one piece, which suits a night when one partner is more tired than the other. A therapist each means two sessions side by side, finishing within a minute or two of each other, which is what couples want on an evening that matters most. The pair needs notice and a room with space on both sides of the bed.

How long is it from an agreed booking to a knock?

Forty to sixty minutes to any central Amsterdam address, counted from the moment the booking is agreed rather than from the moment she leaves. The figure holds through the night. A room at a Schiphol airport hotel sits outside that window and is arranged separately, with the journey time agreed with you before anything is fixed.

Can she come to a room at an airport hotel near Schiphol?

By arrangement, and the arrangement starts with the journey. Say in the first line that you are at the airport, and the length of the trip out is agreed with you before anything is fixed rather than quoted as a standard window. Those bookings carry half the fee ahead, as every Schiphol booking does. Nowhere outside Amsterdam and the airport, on any date.

What happens if the second flight is delayed?

Write as soon as the board changes rather than once you have reached the room. A delay of an hour on the evening before is usually absorbed, particularly early in the week. What decides everything is when the message lands: more than twenty-four hours ahead nothing is kept, inside the last day and before she has left half the deposit is kept, and once she is on her way the deposit stays with the house.

Can we move the evening to another night of the same visit?

One change of date is free, provided the request reaches the thread more than twenty-four hours before the booked hour and the new date falls within fourteen days, which on a three night visit it always does. The deposit travels across intact. A second move, or one asked for inside the final day, is read on the notice scale exactly as a cancellation sent at that moment would be.

Does a cancellation ever cost more than the deposit?

No. Nothing is ever claimed as damages. What may be kept is the share of the fee already earned when your message arrives, and the deposit is the ceiling on that. If the hour you released is taken by somebody else, the deposit comes back in full. Where the loss can be shown to have been smaller than the sum kept, the remainder is returned.

How is the deposit paid, and is anything asked for on this site?

Nothing at all is asked for on this site: no form, no account, no card details typed into a page. Half the fee goes across after a booking has been agreed, by card, Revolut, Wise or crypto, on details that appear inside the confirmed thread and nowhere else. Whatever is left of the fee is settled once she is in the room.

Can the balance be paid in a currency other than euros?

Every figure here is a euro figure, and a balance paid in cash in another major currency is welcome when the exact sum in that currency has been confirmed in writing before she sets out. That suits couples who arrive from outside the euro area and would rather not spend the first afternoon at a bank. The deposit itself is settled electronically.

Does my partner have to know about the booking?

Yes. Both people in the room must have agreed to the session and both must be twenty-one or over, and both are checked at the door rather than assumed from a message. Arranging this as a surprise for somebody who has not been told is not a booking the house will take, and a therapist who works that out on the doorstep will leave.

Do same-sex couples book here?

Regularly, and nothing about the arrangements or the figures differs. The same two options apply, one therapist between you or a therapist each, and the same rates. Say in the first message that there are two of you and which arrangement you want, exactly as any other couple would.

We do not share a first language. Can we ask for a particular one?

You can ask, and it is a reasonable request from two people who run their own evenings in a second language. English appears on all twenty-three profiles. Beyond it, French is on six, Dutch and Spanish on three each, Russian and Greek on two each, and there are single speakers of Italian, Czech, Romanian, Ukrainian, German, Serbian, Latvian and Portuguese.

Can we choose a therapist together before we travel?

That is how most couples here do it. The profiles carry photographs, an age, the languages on her file and the district she travels from, and the two of you look at the same page from two countries and agree a name. Write that name to the house rather than leaving it in your own thread, because a name held with a deposit is a name that is actually free.

What if the woman we picked is not available?

The reply says who is free for the hour you asked about, and the choice then comes back to the two of you. Nobody is talked into anybody. If the name matters more than the date, say so and a different evening of the visit can usually be arranged around her instead.

Which format suits a first evening after weeks apart?

Warm oil or sensual work, ninety minutes, one therapist. It asks nothing of the room or the bathroom, nothing is rinsed afterwards, and it forgives a partner who has been travelling since morning. Gel and foam formats are better on a second or third evening, once the two of you know what the room actually has in it.

What does the room need to have?

A bed, warmth and somewhere for a bag. She brings towels and oil. Put the heating above daytime comfort before she arrives, and work by a lamp instead of the ceiling light. Two therapists want floor space on both sides of the bed, and the gel and foam formats want a bathroom you have already used.

Will identification be asked for at the door?

It may be, from either or both of you. Everyone in the room has to be twenty-one or over, so a photo document can be asked for on the doorstep, read once and handed straight back. Nothing is copied or photographed and nothing from it is written down. If she cannot settle who is in the room, she leaves before the session starts.

Who sets the limits of a session, and when are they stated?

The therapist does, and she says where her limits are at the start of the visit in her own words. They hold until she leaves. Where two therapists are working, each sets her own and neither speaks for the other. She may decline a booking at any point and may end a visit at any point, and the fee for the reserved time stands if she does.

Can we book something for the afternoon while one of us is still in the air?

Yes, and the partner who lands first does it more often than you would guess. A single guest pays half the couple rate for the same hour. Keep it well clear of the evening booking so the room has time to be a room again, and mention in the thread that both belong to the same visit.

My partner's flight has been cancelled and we want to move the evening to tomorrow. What does that cost?

Nothing, as long as your message reaches the thread more than twenty-four hours before the booked hour and the new date falls inside fourteen days. One change of date is free and the deposit travels across whole. If the cancellation comes later than that, the move is read on the notice scale exactly as a cancellation sent at that moment would be: inside the final day with her not yet on her way, half the deposit is kept and half goes on to the new date. Write as soon as you know something has changed, even before you know the new flight time, because the scale reads from when your message landed.

We are booking ninety minutes with a therapist each from two different countries. How much goes ahead and who sends it?

Half of the combined fee for the two sessions goes ahead. Two things make that half unavoidable here: the booking is being arranged more than a day out, and every booking with two therapists carries it whatever the notice. Whose card it comes from is entirely your business and is never asked about; in practice the partner holding the thread settles it, since that is the person reading the message when it arrives. Card first, or Revolut, Wise or cryptocurrency if you prefer. What remains is settled at the door and can come from either of you.

We booked two hours and want to stop after one. Is the second hour refunded?

No. A session ended early, for any reason and by either side, stays payable for the whole time that was reserved. Two hours were held for the two of you, she made the journey out, and the remaining hour cannot be given to anybody else at that point in the evening. Nothing is added beyond the fee for the time held. If you work out before she sets out that ninety minutes suits the evening better than two hours, say so in the thread and the booking simply becomes ninety minutes and is charged at the ninety minute figure instead.

With two of us in the room, who decides what the session includes?

She does, and having two guests present changes none of it. Her limits are hers, she names them at the start of the visit in her own words, and they hold until she leaves. A booking may be declined before it reaches her or after, with no reason owed to anyone, and a visit may be ended whenever she decides. Where two therapists are booked, each one sets her own limits for her own session and neither speaks for the other. Push at a limit that has been named and the evening ends there: the fee for the reserved time stands, nothing is added on top of it, and the terms put the same thing in colder language.

Will she ask to see identification from both of us at the door?

She may, and from either or both of you. Whoever booked and everyone else in the room has to be twenty-one or over, so a photo document can be asked for on the doorstep. It is read once and handed back in the same movement. Nothing is copied, photographed or written down anywhere afterwards. If she cannot settle who is in the room, or whether both people in it have agreed to the booking, she leaves before the session starts, which the age statement sets out in full.

Does the partner who did not write the messages have to agree as well?

Yes, and it is checked rather than assumed. A booking for two people is arranged on the understanding that both of them know about it and both want it, which is why the first message is asked to say so plainly. Arranging this as a surprise for somebody who has not been told is not a booking the house will take, and a therapist who works that out at the door will go. If one of you is unsure, book one therapist for one guest instead and leave the other partner out of it entirely.
