Couple massage in Amsterdam when the two of you are on different clocks

A couple who live four hours apart, or eight, do not arrive in the same state. One is ready for bed at nine and the other is wide awake at two in the morning. The hour you book has to belong to both of those people, which is a scheduling problem before it is anything else.

The short answer

  • She comes to you, at the address the two of you are already using
  • Forty to sixty minutes across the districts this site covers
  • Half ahead on a first booking, with the total written out first
  • Twenty-one or over, guests and therapists alike

Everything here is settled in the thread the two of you share. No form is filled in and no account is opened anywhere.

Two bodies, one evening, no compromise hour

The instinct is to split the difference. If one of you wants nine and the other wants one in the morning, eleven looks like fairness. In practice it is the worst of both: the early body has been fighting to stay up for two hours and the late body has not properly woken into the evening yet.

Pick a side instead, and pick the side of whoever travelled furthest. A partner who has crossed several time zones will not be argued into a different rhythm inside three days, while a partner who came an hour or two east can push their evening later without much cost. The visit has a handful of evenings in it, and the one you book should be the one that suits the less flexible body.

The hour does not change the figure

Nothing here carries a night rate, which removes one argument entirely. A booking for the two of you with one therapist costs the same at half past eight in the evening as at half past two in the morning, and a therapist each is double that at either hour. The same holds for ninety minutes, two hours and three: the clock on the wall never enters the sum.

Arrival holds too. Forty to sixty minutes from an agreed hour to a knock, at three in the morning as at three in the afternoon, counted from the point she is ready to travel rather than from an empty road. So the late hour costs nothing extra except the sleep you are not going to get, and on a visit this short that was probably already decided.

When one of you is going to fade

Say so in the first message and book one therapist rather than two. She works with one of you while the other is in the room, and if the tired partner drifts off in the second half, nothing about the evening breaks. That is an ordinary outcome and nobody in the room treats it as a failure.

With a therapist each, a partner falling asleep at the twenty minute mark leaves a second session running on beside an empty half of the night. The pair works when both of you are present for it. If the two of you are set on it, put it on the evening after the worst of the jet lag, which for most people is the second or third night rather than the first.

Formats that work on a body still in another time zone

Slow work holds up and brisk work does not. Warm oil and sensual massage ask nothing of a confused body and nothing of the room, which is why they take most of the bookings in this situation. Ninety minutes gives the jet lagged partner long enough to stop tracking what hour it is, which is the useful part.

For the wide awake one, tantra is the better answer. It is breath led and paced in hours rather than minutes, and it works with a body that has decided three in the morning is the middle of the day. A couple who split exactly that way sometimes book two hours with a therapist each and let the two sessions be genuinely different, which is a thing the format allows.

Giving the hour twice, in writing

Every booking runs on Amsterdam time. Two people writing from two countries produce more wrong start times than any other kind of guest here, and the cure is boring: write the hour in Amsterdam time and then write it again in the time zone each of you is reading from.

The same goes for a landing time. A flight arriving at nine is a different evening depending on whose phone is being read, and the phone in a pocket is often still set to the country it took off from. One extra line settles it. If the hour has to move after the confirmation, move it in the thread that holds the booking rather than starting a second one, which the booking page explains.

The night booking neither of you planned

It arrives more often than couples expect. Both of you go to bed at eleven, one of you is staring at the ceiling by half past one, and by two you are both awake and talking. That is a perfectly good hour to write, and the answer comes back with who is free rather than with a lecture about the time.

The eight hour block exists for the version of that night where neither of you is pretending any more. It is one sum for the night, fixed before she sets out, with one therapist or a therapist each. Where in the night the eight hours sit is your decision, and couples on a short visit place them so the block ends after the morning either of you has to be functional in.

Sleeping afterwards, which is the point for one of you

For the jet lagged partner the evening has a second job: resetting a body clock that is four or eight hours out. Slow oil work at a late hour does that better than most things, and the hour after she leaves is usually when it takes effect. Keep the room warm, keep the lights low afterwards, and do not turn the overhead light back on to look for a phone charger.

The other partner rarely has that problem and should not be made to share the schedule. If one of you wants to be out at ten the next morning and the other cannot face it, the evening you booked together is precisely the thing that stops the trip becoming two separate holidays. The questions page covers the practical residue.

Tax counted in. Name the second guest in the first message and the figure comes back for two.
